If you’re like me, you’d give anything to NOT think about the elections for a few minutes. Those of us who are fortunate to spend our days with your children benefit from frequent reminders to be present and to celebrate special moments, even as the grown up world struggles.
Those reminders were manifold today. I witnessed Kindergarten linguists teaching their stuffed animals what they had learned in class about the alphabet chart. (Quite possibly the cutest thing ever.) |
I was inspired by our Middle School students who practiced respectful dialogue, deliberating thoughtfully about how we should approach the presence of campaign wear (hats, buttons, shirts) now that the elections are over. (They decided that given our culture of civility and the emotional energy that went into this election, people may just need to hold onto their campain wear for awhile.) These teens know they can coexist in a space where they disagree, but still get along.

Every grade spent time in the sunshine, exploring the woods, climbing trees, observing their butterfly gardens, playing and soaking in some fresh air as they read delicious books.
Shabbat’s gift is that it forces us to mark time, to slow down, to be present. This Shabbat I wish you a rest from the news and opportunities to celebrate small moments, engage in civil dialogue and enjoy a little sunshine...just like a Mirowitz student.
Shabbat Shalom,
Cheryl

Please join us for this important parent Zoom meeting. We will email and text you the Zoom link closer to the event.
We know that these are challenging times, and that we all are experiencing pandemic fatigue. We thank you for setting aside your need to return to normalcy so that we can continue in-person school. Your sacrifices are nothing short of a mitzvah.

We are delighted to announce that Haley Biehl, our new Director of Support Services, will begin on November 16.
Hi Mirowitz Families!
I am thrilled and honored to be joining your community! |
I started my journey in education at the Illinois Center for Autism, and quickly discovered that fostering the learning and development of children was far more rewarding than my previous work as a freelance journalist. I returned to school and received my Master's in the Art of Teaching in Special Education, and worked as a teacher at ICA and then on the behavior/academic support team in Belleville, IL, where I taught 1st through 3rd grade. |

For the last nine years, I have served as the Assistant Principal, Instructional Specialist, and Student Support Coordinator at The Soulard School. I worked collaboratively with staff, parents and students to establish social-emotional and tiered academic programming that ultimately and holistically addressed and supported children's wellbeing. There is nothing more joyful to me than the melding of minds and creative solutions on behalf of children.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Jason, and we are parents to a very inquisitive three-year-old, Autumn. I am currently working to become a certified a dyslexic practitioner, and delight in learning about the brain, specifically executive functions and their deep connections to successful skill and knowledge acquisition. Outside of school, I generally can be found traveling with my family or teaching barre/fitness classes at CC Fly Fitness. For now, I am shoring up my cooking skills, taking our new pup, Willow, on frequent walks, and expanding my Podcasts and audiobooks collection.
I am so looking forward to becoming a part of the wonderful team at Mirowitz, and helping your children reach their full potential. I begin on November 17 and look forward to meeting you then.
All the best,
Haley Biehl

I have been impressed with the school since my first visit several years ago, and I will work tirelessly to increase funding so we can continue the exceptional work of raising children to be capable, smart and kind leaders.

I am excited to continue the relationships this school has with devoted donors and to grow our base of support in the community. I am a life-long St. Louisan who lives in Chesterfield with my husband Steve and children Jordan (a junior at University of Southern California) and Allison (a freshman at Drake University). I have worked at a national marketing firm, a small private school, the Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Federation of St. Louis and as the Director of the Mirowitz Center at Covenant Place, which collectively have prepared me for the task at hand.
I am passionate about ensuring the strength of our Jewish community and am committed to doing all I can to ensure the future of Jewish leadership. I will dedicate myself to ensuring that Mirowitz has the resources and tools needed to provide a quality, safe and supportive environment for its students. I know I will do this in the footsteps of spectacular teachers, professional staff, Board Members, volunteers and donors, and am so proud to be the newest member of the Mirowitz team.
I look forward to getting to know you better and to working with all of you as we continue this important work.
See you soon!
Marianne Chervitz

As many of you know, our son, Mirowitz sixth Grader, Zachary, lives in a medically unstable body. This is due to a condition called Familial Dysautonomia, or FD. We are thankful to FD Now for supporting the Laboratory for Familial Dysautonomia Research which makes Zach’s life better every day.
Please join our family at this concert featuring popular Jewish artists to support FD Now.
With gratitude,
Sharon and Mike Nathanson,
