Life Lessons We Learn from Children
Each year during the High Holy Days, we sink into a deep reflection of ourselves. We humbly try to unravel the kind of person we want to be. Years ago, I discovered the best way to do this is to spend time with children. We have so much to learn from them!
How can children lead us toward being better people? Consider the example they set:
Children understand that keeping others safe is a mitzvah. They know that their choices have the power to impact their community, to protect their teachers and make in person school possible.
Children are adaptable. They are role models for all of us in the way they have adjusted to wearing masks without complaint. In the Kindergartener classroom, they patiently wait in line at the sink for the friend in front to recite the entire ABCs, and when it's their turn at the sink, they scrub joyfully. |
Children are unabashedly spiritual. They can talk about God and angels and death and prayer like you and I talk about the weather.
Children love learning. We can see in their expressions (even under their masks) the delight of discovering something new or mastering a skill. They are spending their days together...exploring, experimenting, writing and problem solving. |
As we enter the High Holiday season, let’s follow the children. Let’s allow them to help us be more adaptable and understanding, to explore, and to contemplate our purpose on earth.
May we, like our children, strive to be our best selves today and every day.
We've just finished our 4th week of school...and shofar, sho good! Enjoy this photo montage recap!
Wishing you a sweet and healthy 5781.
L'Shana Tovah U'Metukah,

Chances are, you are part of the Mirowitz community because someone you know (or maybe someone you don't know!) loved Mirowitz out loud. Here are 5 ways you share the gift of Mirowitz:
1. Tell your friends: Share stories with your friends about how your child is thriving, how they feel loved and how they are growing into confident, capable leaders. |
2. Dress Up! Buy yourself a Mirowitz t-shirt. (We have adult solid shirts in stock for $10.) Or order spirit wear for yourself and your kids during our fall sale (which begins in October). Let your car wear our magnet and your phone wear a credit card holder. You can let people know you love Mirowitz without saying a word. |
3. Like us! We're on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Like us...and like (or love!) our posts. Then when you are really feeling the love, write a review (and give us us on Facebook or on Niche. |
4. Come (virtually)...and bring your friends: Sneak a Peek will be online this year! Please join us (virtually) November 12 at 8 p.m...and encourage your friends to come, too. Mirowitz teachers will lead hands-on workshops that offer strategies for helping kids reach their potential as learners, leaders and human beings. |
Parent involvement at Mirowitz makes our school stronger, connects you to a great community, provides opportunities to bond with teachers, shows your children you care about their school...and it's FUN!
Please take our PTO Survey so we know how you'd like to be involved.
We look forward to a great year!

Mirowitz students know that Rosh HaShanah is a time for tikkun (repair), and that the shofar is a powerful piece of spiritual technology for making that repair.
The great, early Hassidic master Rebbe Levi Yitzhak of Berdichev taught the following:
כמו כן בראש השנה, אשר אנחנו עמו בית ישראל מתעלים לפני הבורא ברוך הוא, אזי אימה ויראה גדולה נופל עלינו
So too on Rosh HaShanah, when we--the people of Israel--go up before the Blessed Creator, a great fear falls upon us, and we are afraid to speak before G*d...Therefore we shout in sound without speaking, that is, through the sound of the shofar...
May this Rosh HaShanah be a time when you truly hear the spiritual cry coming from your own heart. For a little inspiration, check out our own Mirowitz shofar sounders, or check out the spiritual shouts of the folks participating in Shofar Across America. If you are so moved, perhaps post your own.
Shanah tovah umetukah (a good, sweet year!)

I feel so safe and comfortable having my kids at Mirowitz. I know they are in great hands and getting the best education possible! They are happier now than they have been in 6 months. Thank you for providing a safe and loving environment!

We are so happy with Isaac's kindergarten experience so far! Our son is so happy, is learning so much, and has such a wonderful attitude about school, learning, and Judaism. I couldn't be happier that we chose Mirowitz.
